Staris Kids — Community & Acceptable Use Policy

Version: 1.0 · Effective date: 27 August 2026 · Controlling language: English. We also publish this document in Portuguese, Japanese, French, and Spanish; where the law of your place of residence entitles you to rely on the version in your own language, that version prevails for you to the extent of any inconsistency.

1. Who this applies to

Staris Kids creates AI-generated illustrated stories for young children, made and controlled by a grown-up. This policy describes what belongs in the Service and what does not, and the detailed rules against misusing the AI. It applies to You (the Account Holder) — the adult (18+) parent or legal guardian who creates and controls the account — and to every Child who experiences content through your supervised account. It supplements the Terms of Use; defined terms have the meaning given there. Following it is part of your agreement with us, and a breach can lead to the consequences in §7.

2. Our values

Everything in Staris Kids should fit four simple values written for a young-child audience:

• Safe — Content should never frighten, endanger, or expose a Child to material beyond their years.
• Kind — Characters and stories should model warmth, empathy, and respect; no cruelty, hatred, or harassment.
• Honest — Generated Content is AI-made fiction; it should not be passed off as human-made or real, any AI-content markers we apply should be left intact, and real people should not be misrepresented.
• Private — Protect the personal information of your Child and of anyone else who appears in Content.

3. What Staris Kids is great for

• Gentle adventure, friendship, family, and bedtime stories tailored to a Child's age range and interests.
• Characters made from a photo you are authorized to use — turning a Child or family member into a friendly cartoon hero.
• Learning-themed and social-emotional stories (curiosity, patience, kindness, caring for others and the world).
• Imaginative, make-believe, and comforting narratives that help a Child wind down, feel understood, or explore ideas safely.

4. What is not allowed — prohibited content

The following Content is prohibited anywhere in the Service (not exhaustive):

5. Prohibited uses of the Service (the detailed rules)

You must not use the Service, and must not attempt or permit anyone else to use it, to:

5.1 Defeat or evade our safety systems — bypass, disable, trick, or defeat content filters, safety guardrails, or age-appropriateness controls; use coded language, obfuscation, "jailbreak"-style prompts, or reference images to force refused Content; or probe/reverse-engineer the moderation system.

5.2 Generate, upload, or store prohibited Content — anything in the §4 categories. Child safety is absolute: never create, request, or upload any content that sexualizes a minor — real or AI-generated, described or depicted — and never use the Service to expose a Child to age-inappropriate material (see the Child Safety Policy).

5.3 Upload images you are not authorized to use — upload a photo of any person, whether to create a character or to attach to a Memory story, unless you are the parent/guardian of any Child depicted and hold the consent of any other identifiable person (or their parent/guardian); or craft prompts/images designed to infringe another's rights or reproduce their personal data. (See the Consent & Eligibility Policy and Terms of Use §6.)

5.4 Impersonate or deceive — impersonate a real person or create deceptive "deepfake"-style depictions of a real, identifiable person without consent; falsely suggest that a real person or organization endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with you or your Content; exploit anyone's name, image, likeness, voice, or identity contrary to law (these rights protect well-known people too — see the AI Content & Transparency Policy §6); present Generated Content as a real photograph, genuine record, or a real person's work/statement; remove, alter, hide, or disable any AI-content disclosure, label, watermark, content credential, or provenance marker; or misrepresent AI-generated output as human-created.

5.5 Break the law or cause harm — use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to plan, promote, or carry out activity that is illegal or could harm a Child or any other person.

5.6 Attack, scrape, or abuse the Service — reverse-engineer/decompile or extract source code, models, or prompts (except as law expressly permits); scrape/harvest/bulk-extract Content; access by automated means except as permitted; interfere with, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts; introduce malware; circumvent usage or entitlement limits; or resell/sublicense/commercially exploit the Service or Generated Content beyond the personal, family, non-commercial licence in the Terms of Use.

6. The rules cover prompts, uploads, and AI output alike

Staris Kids is a generative service, so this policy applies to all Content — the prompts and instructions you write, the photos you upload, the characters you build, AND the story text and illustrations the AI produces. "The AI generated it" is never an exception. You warrant you have all necessary rights to every input (including any Uploaded Photo, any Memory Story Photo, and the likeness of everyone in them) and you are responsible for the Generated Content produced from your inputs and for anyone you allow to view it. Automated filtering is a safeguard, not a guarantee — it does not transfer this responsibility away from you.

• Characters from people. Creating a character from an Uploaded Photo requires the rights and consents in §5.3 (see the Consent & Eligibility Policy). You retain ownership of the characters you create; built-in Staris world characters and assets remain licensed to you, not owned (see the Copyright & Takedown Policy).
• Your library. Stories, characters, illustrations, favorites, and history are stored securely and kept per our Data Retention & Deletion Policy; you can delete individual stories and characters, or your whole account, at any time in the App.

7. How we moderate and enforce

We take commercially reasonable, but not guaranteed, steps to keep Content age-appropriate:

• Automated text filtering of story text (submitted and generated) blocks sexual content, sexual or exploitative content involving minors, hate, graphic violence, and self-harm; an extra-gentle mode is available.
• Generated illustrations pass an automated content-safety check that blocks overtly unsafe images before they are shown. It is a safeguard, not a guarantee (and not CSAM detection) — please review each story and its illustrations before sharing them with a Child.
• Automated filtering may miss some content or over-flag acceptable content; it does not replace your review.

When Content or conduct breaches this policy, we escalate as appropriate: (1) warn you; (2) remove or refuse the Content; (3) suspend or limit generation or features; (4) suspend or permanently terminate the account. Except for child-safety violations and where the law prevents it, we will tell you what rule was breached, and if you believe we acted in error you can ask us to review the decision by replying to the notice or contacting support@cleverlabs.com.au. We act without prior notice only where necessary to protect safety, security, or legal compliance. Child-safety violations are handled with zero tolerance — immediate removal, permanent ban of the account and any linked accounts, reporting to the authorities as required by law, and cooperation with law enforcement, with no appeal (see the Child Safety Policy). We may preserve or disclose Content where required by law or to protect safety.

8. Sharing

You can share a story you created with a person you choose. Sharing is always your choice: we give you an unlisted share link, and you send it to whoever you decide. We never ask for that person's email address or phone number, and we never send anything on your behalf. Because sharing takes a story outside your account, the Share control sits behind the same grown-up check used elsewhere in the App.

What sharing means, before you do it. The link is unlisted, not private: anyone who has it can read that story until it expires, and a link can be forwarded, just as a screenshot can. A story may show a character drawn from a photograph. Before your first share you are asked to confirm that you have permission to share any identifiable person shown in the story, including any child who is not your own.

Every link expires after 10 days, and you can remove it sooner at any time from Shared stories in the App. When a link expires or you remove it, the story stops being readable on both the web page and in the other person's App. Deleting the story, or your account, removes it everywhere immediately.

What sharing is not. A shared story is read-only: the person you send it to cannot change it, re-share it from the App, or use it to create anything. There is no feed, no gallery, no profiles, no comments, no messaging and no way to discover other families' stories — a story reaches someone only because you sent them the link. You can only share stories you created; the built-in stories, series and Quick Learns that come with Staris Kids are not shareable.

The story is not changed by sharing. What the recipient sees is exactly the story you already made, which already passed our content checks when it was created. If you add a short note when you share, that note is checked separately.

The web page a link opens is unlisted: it is excluded from search engines, its link preview shows only the Staris Kids name and never the story or its pictures, and it carries its own way to report the story to us — so someone who does not have the App can still raise a concern.

This policy and the Child Safety Policy apply to shared stories exactly as they do to any other Content.

9. How to report a concern

Reporting. If Content troubles you — a story the Service generated for you, or a story someone shared with you — you can report it from inside the App, from the story itself. If you opened a shared story on the web without the App, that page has its own Report link. Tell us what is wrong and, where possible, how to find it. You can also email support@cleverlabs.com.au. We review reports and respond within a reasonable timeframe. Please do not submit abusive or knowingly false reports.

Declining shares from someone. Staris Kids has no feed, no profiles and no messaging — you only ever receive a story because someone sent you a link. If you would rather not receive stories from a particular sender again, you can decline shares from them in the App. That blocks their future share links from opening in your account, not just the story in front of you, and you can remove any story they already shared with you.

Suspected child sexual abuse material is handled under the Child Safety Policy and reported to the appropriate authorities as required by law.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the version and effective date above and, for material changes, give notice in the App or by email before they take effect.
